It’s true! We’ve released the official version 1.0 of The Tip Card! In addition to the features the pre-release version had, version 1.0 now features a proprietary login, so if you don’t have a foursquare account, or don’t want one, you can now use the app.
If you are a foursquare user, we’ve made the integration easier so now you can check-in directly from The Tip Card to foursquare and share your rating!
Head on over to iTunes app store and download it today.
We have a lot more updates coming your way! In fact, our next update to Tip Card will feature social networking so that you can share your ratings with friends in the app.
Hope you are enjoying the app and look forward to hearing from you!

As you know we’re busy updating our iPhone app with some new and requested functionality. Meanwhile, we’re looking to move forward with some expansion of our website. We want to create the ability for you, our users, to login on our website, access your history, view venues, friends and previous ratings, rate venues and so forth. Basically all the functionality of the app, but on the website.
So if you have the experience and talent we need to connect our MySQL database with the website, contact us! We’re really looking for someone to serve as CIO and a founding partner, helping to guide our development process.
Please email me or comment below with questions. Thanks!

Great news everyone. We went ahead and submitted The Tip Card to the App Store and it’s been accepted! So now you can get the full app from the app store. We’re working on those improvements and will add them as they are developed. So for now you can download and use the app through the foursquare login. Hope you enjoy and as always, feel free to contact me with any questions or issues.
Download the app.

As you can probably tell there are some features missing from the current beta version of the app. Below is an overview of some of the features we’re planning on adding before we launch the app.
- Login: As I mentioned in my last post, we’ll be adding our own unique login to the app so that you can create your own user name. This way you won’t have to login through foursquare when you want to use.
- Friends: We’re also going to fix the friend feature so that you can add and remove friends from social networks and not just a default list of all friends and brands from your foursquare account.
There are also some features that we’re looking at developing over the long haul. Here are some that we’re planning, feel free to chime in with what else you might like to see.
- Synced checkin: We’re looking into, after some requests, if it will be possible to offer the user the option to checkin to foursquare when you rate a server.
- Profile pages: Our intent is that once the previously mentioned login system is fixed, you will be able to login on our website and manage your profile. You’ll also be able to search ratings that others have submitted.
- Reward system: It’s been suggested that we include a reward system for users. For every rating at a particular restaurant you can earn specific rewards, whether its swag or a gift card or something. We think it’s a great idea and we’re going to work on including it.
So there you have it. Some of our future plans.
Signup for the beta and let us know what else you’d like to see.

We just couldn’t wait any longer! This afternoon we distributed the first iPhone app beta build. Hooray!
If you would like to participate in the beta build, please feel free to signup as we’re still accepting beta testers. So tell your friends!
A few notes about the current Beta build (0.1):
- Logging in: You must login using your foursquare login. If you don’t have one, go ahead and signup for it. In a future build we will allow you to create your own login.
- UI Navigation: We developed the app in iOS4. However, in iOS5 there was a change to how navigation bars were handled. We are working on this fix so that the proper colors appear here.
- Icon: The app icon is not displayed the proper name. We’ve already fixed this but it did not make it into this build. Will be fixed in the next build.
Thanks and enjoy the app!
Signup for the Beta here, through TestFlight, and we’ll send you the app today.

That’s right everyone, we’re finally ready to release the beta version of the app. Well, we’re almost ready. Talk about a dramatic entrance!
Anyway, we’re going to use TestFlight to coordinate beta testing the app. Now in order to distribute the app to you for testing, you’re going to need to signup at TestFlight. This will provide us with your UDID which we then give to Apple for their records. Shortly thereafter you’ll be getting a notification that the app is ready for you to download.
So signup now on TestFlight and as soon as the beta is released you’ll be among one of the first to get it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey everyone, sorry there haven’t been any updates recently. Been hard at work getting the app to a beta stage. We are very close though and just fixing two things and we’ll be ready to release the beta app. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do and be the first to get the beta app and take it for a test drive. Below are some photos from the current build which I hope you’ll find exciting.
Finally, we are currently looking for investors! If you think this is a great project, or has the potential to be one, and want to get involved there are a few options. First, you can become an investor in the project. You can visit our GrowVC page and invest there or contact me directly. We are also looking for a developer for the app, website and database that would be willing to work for ownership interest in The Tip Card.

Hi there! This is Gregory J. Wright, or just Greg, the CEO of The Tip Card. I’m incredibly excited about launching this company and our new app. I hope that you will find The Tip Card app as helpful and inventive as I do. While it is currently only available on the iPhone, I plan to develop it for Android and other platforms as soon as we can. We are currently operating on a barebones budget, looking for investors to further develop features of the app. I’m the only employee and wearing many hats, so please bear with me.
I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit to The Tip Card so far. We’re currently in the development phase and hope to have our beta app out in the next two months. Feel free to sign up now for the beta and you’ll be alerted as soon as its available.
If you haven’t yet I hope you will explore this site and discover more about the app.
I would like to foster the user experience and candid feedback is always welcome. We want this app to be your app, so please let us know what we can do to improve it.
As always, feel free to email me any time.
